We are pleased to be the oldest full-service specialty running stores in the South Puget Sound. Our website serves as an guide to our Olympia and Puyallup locations and as an information source for South Puget Sound’s running communities.
South Sound Running has two locations (Olympia & Puyallup) and a well-trained staff who are qualified to fit the right shoe for the casual walker, the every-other-day runner or the competitive athlete. You’ll find the latest models of quality footwear from a variety of respected brands as well as a large selection of athletic apparel, watches, heart rate monitors, accessories, books, magazines, food/energy items and much more.
Greg Klein and Joan Marchioro opened the store in January of 1998 after seeing the need for a specialty running store in the community. Greg’s caring, professional approach towards finding you the ideal shoe sets the standard for all South Sound Running employees. He has been able to combine his many years of experience in the sporting goods industry with his athletic background. Greg has participated in numerous local road races with a 5k best of 15:18 and a 2:37 Marathon. In addition to running, he also enjoys cycling, hiking and mountaineering with six ascents of Mt. Rainier to his credit.
Joan works behind the scenes managing the books and keeps the store running smoothly with her business skills. As well as working part-time for the store, Joan serves on the Pollution Control Hearing Board for the State of Washington, appointed by Governor Jay Inslee. Joan is also an avid runner, hiker and mountaineer. She was the 1992 Capitol City Marathon Women’s Runner Up.
